#blogbookaday: My Family Four Floors Up

My Family Four Floors Up.jpgSummary:  “This friendly, rhyming story follows a child and her father–as well as their cute pets, a puppy and a cat–through the day. From morning ritual to bedtime story (and all the fun in between!), life in the fourth floor walk up and on the city streets and parks below is sweet and filled with tender moments between parent and child.” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review: A little girl spends the day with her father and her sweet little pup from breakfast to bedtime in rhyming couplets filled with color concepts words. I loved how the little girl lives in an apartment and it’s not made to be a big deal, but just another place to call home.

Personal Reaction: Pair this book with Noisy Night by Mac Barnett and Apt. 3 by Ezra Jack Keats for a great storytime featuring apartments that are more common homes in some communities and would be a welcome sight at storytime. Plus this story is also a concept book about colors which makes it accessible to so many toddlers.

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
