#blogbookaday: Stack the Cats
Summary: “One cat sleeps. Two cats play. Three cats stack!
Cats of all shapes and sizes scamper, stretch and yawn across the pages of this adorable counting book. And every now and then, they find themselves in the purrfect fluffy stack!” (Taken from Goodreads)
Review: This simple book of adorable cats is perfect for cat and math lovers alike. I could definitely see a way of photocopying a few pages and cutting out the cats so kids could stack different cats on top of each other. There’s not too much of a story line, much more of a concept book with both counting and addition and would be a perfect introduction for a small child.
Personal Reaction: A counting and adding book filled with cats is the perfect way for a little one to learn about both math and science concepts, in an easy to read way! I love the extremely basic text and how if you have too many cats stacked on top of each other, they fall over, but if you make them into smaller groups it works better. I’d love to pair this with a balancing activity that kids to try out as well! This would make a perfect story for a STEM storytime at home or at the library.

This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
