#blogbookaday: Look Out, It's a Dragon!

Look Out, It's a Dragon!.jpgSummary:  “Saffi isn’t like other dragons. She doesn’t enjoy crushing castles and capturing princesses. But when she finds the perfect new home, how can she persuade her new neighbours that she is a helpful sort of dragon? Written and illustrated by the award-winning Jonny Lambert (Little Why, The Only Lonely Panda and Tiger Tiger), this is a humorous and heart-warming tale about bravery, overcoming prejudices and finding new friends.” (Taken from Goodreads)

Review: This is the adorable story of a dragon named Sapphire who is looking for a new home and gets judged on her outward appearance by the animals in her new neighborhood. How will she convince them that she’s not a scary dragon, but a nice one? The animals learn that you can’t judge someone’s appearance, but by their actions and Sapphire proves her bravery and worth in this story about friendship.

Personal Reaction: I really enjoyed this sweet story about a dragon who didn’t fit in. I loved the soft color palette and Sapphire’s beautiful blues and greens. I loved that Sapphire causes a few accidents along the way making the animals believe that she is a destructive dragon, only to redeem herself and prove her bravery. This is definitely a heart-warming story of friendship to share with your little ones.

#blogbookaday (1)This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
