#blogbookaday: Explorers of the Wild
Summary: “Boy and Bear both love to explore the outdoors. There are so many neat things to see, and so many strange things to find. These explorers are prepared for anything . . . except each other! When Bear and Boy meet in the woods, they’re scared at first. Really scared. But soon these kings of the wild realize that no mountain is too big to conquer if you have a friend to climb it by your side.” (Taken from Goodreads)
Review: A boy and bear are exploring the woods, each with their own text, until they run into each other! After getting over their shock, they spend the rest of the day exploring together. This is a fun story of friendship, spending time in the great outdoors and adventure. Cale Atkinson has an adorable style and I love the rich colors he chose for this titles filled with greens, yellows and oranges – it perfectly fits the tone of the woods and the animals these two explorers come across.
Personal Reaction: I fell in love with Cale Atkinson’s illustrations in his book To the Sea with the most adorable boy who finds a whale who can’t find his way home! When I came across Explorers of the Wild I fell in love again with these two brave explorers as they travel through the woods experiencing nature at its finest. This is an awesome title to read before heading out on a hike or camping trip.

This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!

Susie at Once Upon A Storybook
Hi Laura~
Iâm a Literacious lover. Thanks for your great blog. I especially love this book-a-day format!
I currently own Once Upon a Storybook, a unique childrenâs bookstore in Orange County, CA. Unfortunately, we are closing at the end of this month after a 3 ½ yr journey. It has been rewarding and exciting; unfortunately, we have not been able to make it profitable.
In rebranding Once Upon a Storybook, I am considering a few things: Youtube storytimes, offsite storytimes, blogging, speaking. I would love to have a 30-min conversation with you in May, if you would be available for that. You could pick the day and time, and I would just like to pepper you with questions about your blog and how you monetize your blogging.
Thank you for considering spending some time with me. It would be such a pleasure to interact with you!
Warmly,
Susie Alexander
