#blogbookaday: Ready, Set, Sail!
Summary: “Join these sailors as they explore the sea during a fun day of sailing in this follow-up to Ready, Set, Build!
Shout your orders loud and fast.
“Hoist the mainsail up the mast!”
Grab your life vest, hold on to your compass, and get ready for a day full of sailing fun with a playful tiger and turtle! Follow these salty sailors as they raise their anchor, cast off, and explore the sea in their little sloop. And after a long day of sailing, they gather and tell tales of all the things they’ve seen!” (Taken from Goodreads)
Review: A sweet story of two friends on an adventure in a sailboat filled with nautical terms for your own little pirate! I loved all the different animals that these two friends encounter as they travel the high seas and explore an island. I liked that this was a little different from most pirate-focused stories as this is more a focus on the actual sailing of a boat, more so than the search for buried treasure.
Personal Reaction: I thought this was a cute little story with sparse, rhyming text and adorable anthropomorphic animals. Each scene is filled with bright colors, cartoon expressions and lots of movement as the ocean carries the little boat on its way. This would be a great story to share with toddlers and preschoolers to introduce them to new vocabulary or before going out for a sail yourself!

This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
