#blogbookaday: Mama’s Kisses
Summary: “It’s bedtime in the jungle, but baby panda, elephant, orangutan, and leopard are nowhere to be found. Their mamas set out to look for their wayward little ones, calling them to bed with a soft lullaby. But look! The baby animals are crawling, creeping, hiding, and giggling, playfully staying just one step ahead of their loving mamas.” (Taken from Goodreads)
Review: Four jungle babies, a panda, elephant, orangutan, and leopard play hide-and-seek with their mamas at bedtime. All four mamas call for their little ones as they creep and crawl through the jungle, giggling and not yet ready to go to bed. Each mama has a different idea and when they find their little ones – hugs and kisses abound as they snuggle into bed.
Personal Reaction: The soft palette in yellows, oranges, blues and white are unique in a jungle book, but I loved how they worked together to create a quiet bedtime story perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. My only concern for this sweet story is that I would have liked to see a daddy thrown in the mix just once!

This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
