#blogbookaday: Mitford at the Fashion Zoo – Literacious
Summary: “Mitford is a giraffe. But not your everyday, live-on-the-savannah giraffe. Mitford lives in the city. But not your everyday, filled-with-people city. This city is filled with animals. Animals who like to dress up, especially the animals who work at COVER magazine. Mitford would do ANYTHING to work there. But first Mitford must prove himself. Can Mitford survive the Fashion Zoo?!” (Taken from Goodreads) Review: A fun story about the fashion industry with tongue-in-cheek jokes and wordplay that adults will surely chuckle at while youngsters who love dressing up and/or thinking outside the box will be delighted with Mitford’s success in the grueling fashion industry. I loved the crazy, hurried pen lines and swatches of color that made me feel like everything was in a rush and there was too much to do and not enough time to do it in. Personal Reaction: I’d say this is a Devils Wears Prada meets the Central Park Zoo take on Fashion Week, with Panda’s Super Silly Inside Sunglasses, I can just picture Miranda Priestly behind them as well! I loved the descriptive text and use of capitalization and italics to make a point. Kiss, Kiss! Title: Mitford at the Fashion Zoo Author: Donald Robertson Illustrator: Donald Robertson Publisher: Viking Books for Young Readers Publication Date: August 11, 2015 This is a new idea I’m trying on my blog this year that was inspired by @donalynbooks and @heisereads – to provide a brief review of a picture book every day of 2018. You’ll get a brief summary of the story, a review of the content, illustrations and theme, my personal reaction to the book and all the pertinent publication information! Enjoy!
