Picture Book Month: Turtles – Literacious
Mossy is the fictional story of a Eastern Box Turtle with a living garden on it’s shell. She is captured by a woman and forced to live in a viewing pavilion at a museum, when all poor Mossy wants is to go back to her pond and find her friend Scoot. Soon the curator, with the help of her niece, makes a change that benefits the museum and Mossy. The museum has a painting created of Mossy’s amazing garden and the woman and her niece deposit Mossy back where they found her. Jan Brett’s images, as usual, are framed by other objects from the natural world – rocks, flowers, gems, seashells, fossils and more. Title: Mossy Author: Jan Brett Publisher: G. P.
