Top Ten Tuesday: Books that Feature Characters with Cancer

cancer.png
This is by far not a happy post, but seeing as how September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month – I feel that sharing these titles could be invaluable to some of you, your family or friends. Sadly, cancer touches far too many of our lives and hopefully you’ll never need these books, but if you’re looking for some characters with a little bit of hope, try one of these titles (middle grade especially), except for maybe A Monster Calls, that title is extremely dark.

  1. Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick
  2. Kira-Kira by Cynthia Kadohata
  3. Deadline by Chris Crutcher
  4. Me, and Earl, and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews
  5. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green
  6. The Honest Truth by Dan Gemeinhart
  7. Counting Thyme by Melanie Conklin
  8. Wish Girl by Nikki Loftin
  9. A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
  10. Love, Ish by Karen Rivers
