Hurricane Harvey Relief – #KidLitCares

31 Aug

After seeing the heart wrenching photos and stories coming out of the Texas area from the effects of Hurricane Harvey, it’s hard to figure out where to send my support. I think that this Mr. Rogers quote is one that helps me put these horrible situations into some perspective. And by that, I mean even when something horrible happens, you will always find people helping and that’s so important.

The Kid Lit Community is no different. Middle grade author, Kate Messner set up KidLitCares and has experience after doing something similar as a result of Superstorm Sandy and raised $35,000. Authors, illustrators, editors, and publishers have already donated their time, books, expertise, etc. to an auction to help raise money for the Red Cross Hurricane Harvey relief fund. Currently there are 200 different items that can be bid on and it looks like it’s going to be a very successful fundraising effort.

There are author visits, book packages, manuscript critique and more, so if you’re looking for a great cause – bid on one of these amazing auction items for a great cause!
