Picture Book 10 for 10 – Sing Along
There’s nothing as exciting as singing along to a picture book and gaining everyone’s attention – kids love music and song (regardless of how horribly you sing!) and if want to try to get attention in storytime, at home, or while babysitting, try singing along instead of just reading – you’ll be amazed! I loved to sing along to books in storytime, it holds their own special power and really engage kids with the book. Here are ten titles that I’ve sung, chanted, and loved – enjoy!
- If You’re Happy and You Know It: Jungle Edition by James Warhola
- Ten in the Bed by John Butler
- Down By the Station by Jennifer Riggs Vetter, illustrated by Frank Remkiewicz
- I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More! by Karen Beaumont, illustrated by David Catrow
- Row, Row, Row Your Boat by Jane Cabrera
- Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin, illustrated by James Dean
- The Seals on the Bus by Lenny Hort, illustrated by C. Brian Karas
- There Was a Tree by Rachel Isadora
- Singing in the Rain by Tim Hopgood
- There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly by Simms Taback

This was my theme for last year. We’ve added another grandson, so I’m thrilled to see some titles I didn’t include. Can’t wait to read Seals on the Bus, I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More, and Ten in the Den.

My students LOVE Seals on the Bus. So much more fun to sing than the original!
