It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 9/26/16

I got a lot of reading done this week which makes me so happy!  I finished up Every Single Second by Tricia Springstubb which was a really interesting read, especially for today’s world where an accident rocks the entire community and racial tension threatens to overwhelm and take over as a young girl learns about herself, her family and her neighbors.

I also read a Just a Drop of Water by Kerry O’Malley Cerra a story about the September 11th attacks and the affect they had on a small community in Florida where Jake and his friend, Sameed live.  As you can imagine, Sameed’s family gets harassed for being Muslim American as Jake learns the power of friendship and how to stand up for himself and his friends without physically fighting.

The last book I read this weekend was called Burn Baby Burn by Meg Medina about the summer of 1977 in New York City where record breaking heat, blackouts, and the Son of Sam are just a few of the issues Nora Lopez has to deal with as a graduating senior from high school.

This week, I’m planning on picking up The Evil Wizard Smallbone by Delia Sherman and A Fierce and Subtle Poison by Samantha Mabry. Two very different books, but things that have been sitting on my TBR list for quite awhile.  We’ve only got a few more months of the year for me to try and finish up a lot of the ARCs still sitting on my shelves before 2017 books start popping up on bookshelves everywhere!
