Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Reasons I Love the Book World
- I love books, that’s easy enough.
- I love my job. I wanted to be a librarian from the first time I visited a library when I was little. Even those days when I go home and pour myself a glass of wine because it’s been one of those days, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
- I love blogging – sharing ideas with other people in the book field is great. It makes the job easier and more exciting.
- I love learning. I never thought I’d be directing theater shows, explaining science to 1st graders or leading yoga storytime in front of HUGE groups of people, but I really enjoy learning and this job lets me learn something new on almost a daily basis.
- I love children’s book authors and illustrators – these people are so genuine and caring. They truly love what they do and can be so impactful in a child’s life.
- I love librarian friends. My close friends really have no idea what my daily work life looks like, but I can talk to librarians and they just know.
- I love Twitter. It’s a great way to connect to authors, illustrators, librarians, book lovers, teachers and more – all people who love books as much as I do.
- I love the kids. Finding kids the books they want and need is like a mystery, scavenger hunt, guessing game all in one, and it’s one of my favorite parts.
- I love publishers. Especially when they get as excited as you do about upcoming releases. I love getting ARCs of new books and getting a jump on the season’s reading. NetGalley and Edelweiss are super helpful in getting access to eBook ARCs.
- I love bookstores. There’s no place I’d rather shop, the only problem I have is that I want too many books.
