Top Ten Tuesday: Beach Reads Week
Summer’s almost here and for most people that live in this area it means traveling “down the shore” for weekends and week-long vacations. Vacations are a distant memory and goal for the future as summer reading will be here in a few weeks and I’ll be at work answering reference questions, providing reader’s advisory for kids from birth to teens and offering programs of all sorts and sizes! I’m excited for our new Makerspace Monday programs and for Sports Science on Fridays, plus visits to summer camp too! But, when I do get a chance to head down the shore, I usually grab a young adult book for the beach. These are some of my favorites I’ve read recently:
- The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
- An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
- The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
- I Am Princess X by Cherie Pries
- Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
- The Vigilante Poets of Selwyn Academy by Kate Hattemer
- I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson
- Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen
- Shadowshaper by Daniel José Older
- We Were Liars by e. lockhart

Wow. You’ve got some heavy reads on your list. I like a lighter, fluffier book for the beach, but these are some great books.

I was contemplating lighter books, but I really enjoyed these so they ended up on the list!

I’ve been eager to read ‘Vigilante Poets’ for ages. Aside from anything else, it has one of the all-time great book titles.

I know, right? It wasn’t exactly what I expected, but I really liked it!
