Blogging A to Z: Kites

Letter K (1).jpgDuring the month of April, I’ll be participating in the Blogging From A to Z Challenge.  My theme for the month is Storytime Plans From A to Z.  Each plan will have eight stories as well as four songs, fingerplays or rhymes to match the theme!  As you can see, I’ll try and attribute where I found all of this fun (and often you can find it in multiple places).  My goal is to make storytime planning a little easier on myself in the future and to make storytime planning for other librarians easy as well!

Songs & Rhymes:
Now It’s Time to Fly Our Kites
Now it’s time to fly our kites
Fly our kites, fly our kites
Now it’s time to fly our kites
On this windy day.
Now our kites go up, up, up
Down, down, down, up, up, up
Now our kites go up, up, up
On this windy day.
Now our kites all around
>All around, all around
Now our kites go all around
On this windy day.
Five Little Kites
One little kite in the sky so blue,
Along came another, then there were two.
Two little kites flying high above me;
Along came another, then there were three.
Three little kites, just watch them soar,
Along came another, then there were four.
Four little kites, so high and alive
Along came another, then there were five.
Five little kites dancing across the sky,
What a sight to see, way up so high!
Five bright kites Watch them soar!.
Along came a strong wind, and now I have four.
Four bright kites flying over the sea.
Along came a big wave, and now I have three
Three bright kites, I’ll give one to you.
Three bright kites, now I have two.
Two bright kites flew too near to the sun.
Poor little kites! Now I have one.
One bright kite – that’s enough for me,
I’ll keep it away from the kite – eating tree!
Dandelion Seeds
Dandelion seeds are floating down, (float arms and hands up and down)
They make a carpet on the ground (palms facing the floor, move hands back and forth as if smoothing the floor)
Then swish, the wind comes whistling by, (move both arms quickly to one side)
And sends them dancing to the sky (dance fingers up and down above head)
What’s the Weather?
What’s the weather? What’s the weather? What’s the weather like today?
Is it sunny, is it rainy, is it windy out today?
What’s the weather? What’s the weather? what’s the weather like today?
(encourage kids to then discuss the weather with you!)
