Toddler Storytime Theme: Cookies

Toddler Storytime Theme: Cookies

This storytime made me soooo hungry!  Toddler Storytime Theme: Cookies is definitely a storytime hit for just about everyone! The kids really enjoyed all of the books and were quite interested in figuring out who ate all the cookie dough in Karen Beaumont’s book Who Ate All the Cookie Dough

They also love melting during our wiggles song “Once There Was a Snowman” (we do it twice to maximize our melting!).  And of course, who doesn’t love duckling and Pigeon from Mo Willems.  I totally play up the Pigeon’s level of stress and when I asked the group what Pigeon should do, one little girl responded (in a dead serious voice), “Calm Down.”

This is definitely a storytime I could see repeating in the future, because honestly, who doesn’t love cookies?

Opening: “Put Your Hands Up In the Air”

Puppet Meet & Greet: Meet Woolly (monkey puppet)

Early Literacy Tip: It’s not unnatural for a toddler to be moving around while you’re trying to read a story.  They might be moving, but they’re listening too.  You can also try reading aloud during snack time or bath time when they are more likely to be sitting down (and somewhat contained)!
