Pre-K Dance Party

Dance Party

We had a HUGE and very successful Pre-K Dance Party yesterday morning with 45+ toddlers and preschoolers and their parents/guardians.  It has just been starting to get cold here with a very weird and warm winter.  But, kids were ready to come in and move!

My few ground rules involved being careful around our friends – for whatever reason when kids are in a large, empty room they just start running in circles and I strongly encouraged the parents/guardians to dance as well!  I also provided a pitcher of water and disposable cups with a permanent marker (to write names) so the kids can get some water anytime they need it while dancing.

We took about a three-minute break about 20 minutes into the program, but other than that it was all music, all the time.  I didn’t even provide props and the kids LOVED it!  Also, if you notice in my music setlist, I tried to add some classic songs that really get the parents more excited than just the typical kids’ music.

This is a super simple program, you just need some music, a large space, and a decent sound system for your very own Pre-K Dance Party! Check out this blog post on ALSC for even more suggestions!
