2016 Ambassador for Young People's Literature

If you haven’t heard, the kid lit world is blowing up with the news that Gene Luen Yang, author of American Born Chinese and Boxers and Saints is the 2016 Ambassador for Young People’s Literature.  He follows a long line of BIG names in the field including Kate DiCamillo, Walter Dean Myers and others.

The award is given bi-annually to a U.S. author or illustrator who has made a substantial contribution to young people’s literature.  Award winners must be dynamic public speakers to large audiences of children and teens communicating a passion for books and reading.
