DIY Spa & Game Night
We had our holiday/end-of-the-semester party for our middle school students this week and the kids have been asking for another spa and game night, so that’s what we did! We brought out a bunch of board games, card games and activities and provided a few stations for a spa night. The kids in this group adore making things and I found amazingly simple instructions for making shower scrubbies out of tulle and a piece of ribbon.
The kids also made a Greek yogurt and cucumber face mask that they were able to put on at the party (plus bonus cucumber slices for their eyes). They also experimented with making lip gloss (that didn’t turn out so well, due to a lack of following instructions). And they made a foot scrub they could take home and use or give to a family member for the holidays.
Now, I know what some of you are thinking… boys and spa night? But, that’s why we provided the games as well as encouraging the boys to pamper themselves as well. I pointed out at the beginning of the evening that everyone takes showers (hopefully!) and that taking care of your skin is important to everyone. And thankfully our group is very kind and some of the guys wanted to try the face mask and were surprised with how soft their skin was afterward. Granted, a large group of guys played a rousing game of Apples to Apples, but everyone definitely had fun. If you want to take a look at the recipes we made and a few more, here’s my little flyer for the program!
