It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 8/3/15

1740889720534703224031302287550717311628I got a lot of reading done again this week and I hope t finish up the last book today.  I thought I Am Princess X by Cherie Priest was an amazing, fast-paced read described as a cyber-thriller and one I couldn’t put down.  A Little Bit of Spectacular by Gin Phillips is the story of a young girl searching for a sign that everything in her life will be all right after her mom got sick and when she finds a sign she’s surprised by what it means. Wish Girl by Nikki Loftin is a coming-of-age story for Perer who doesn’t feel as though he belongs in his extra loud family, but when he meets Annie he finally begins to understand that he is important just how he is.  Beware – this is what I call a “crying book” as Annie calls herself a “wish girl,” as in a Make-A-Wish girl.  Watch the Sky by Kirsten Hubbard is the story of Joryand his family as his stepfather waits for the right sign to save the family from the end.  This was a very interesting story and I was more interested in Jory’s mother because I wanted to understand how she fell into this type of life. And finally, I’m finishing up Tabula Rising by Kristen Lippert-Martin which is already fats-paced and action-filled.
My plan for this week is to read a few more books from BEA. I’ve got a bunch left and want to get through them before the end of the year. So the next books I plan to read are:

  • Lizard Radio by Pat Schmatz
  • Whippoorwill by Joseph Monninger
  • A Little In Love by Susan Fletcher
  • Project Alpha by D.J. MacHale

Join Jen from Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee and Ricki from Unleashing Readers and share all of the reading you have done over the week from picture books to young adult novels. Follow the links to read about all of the amazing books the #IMWAYR community has read. It’s the best way to discover what to read next.
