It's Monday, What Are You Reading? 7/27/15

title1title2title4title3I got a lot of reading done this week, mostly because I read a few shorter books and one that I didn’t want to put down.  This week I read Friends for Life by Andrew Norriss about a boy who becomes friends with a ghost who has a reason for being there and the reason completely threw me for a loop when I found out.  It was a really interesting story and the characters felt very realistic.  Then I read a real quickie, The Secrets to Ruling School by Max Corrigan which has a lot of pictures similar to Diary of a Wimpy Kid which will make a lot of kids interested.  I don’t know if the storyline is anything new, but it was entertaining.  The book I couldn’t put down is called An Ember In the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir – and awesome adventure, warrior, spy, love story set in an alternate history (similar to Ancient Rome) and although it’s fairly long at 400+ pages, I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters.  I believe a sequel is supposed to be published… I just hope it’s as good, if not better than this one.  And finally, I just finished Ruby On the Outside by Nora Raleigh Baskin.  Basking wrote  Anything But Typical and i was excited to read this novel and it definitely delivers – a middle school girl navigating her life as a child of an incarcerated parent.  Very much an eye-opening story and so moving.
I was so happy to get back into my reading track and I’ve got a pile of books waiting for me this week including:

  • I Am Princess X by Cherie Priest
  • A Little Bit of Spectacular by Gin Phillips
  • Tabula Rising by Kristen Lippert-Martin
  • Watch the Sky by Kirsten Hubbard
  • Wish Girl by Nikki Loftin
