Happy Children's Book Week
May 4 – 10, 2015 is Children’s Book Week, the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country! It’s an “annual celebration of books for young people and the joy of reading” and is administered by Every Child a Reader and sponsored by the Children’s Book Council.
The website has a great digital toolkit, plus books and activity guides for children of all ages. The website also provides a host of great programs to celebrate Children’s Book Week in libraries, schools, and bookstore.
Children’s Book Week kicks off (although I don’t know if its technically done this way) with a huge event celebrating the winners of the Children’s Choice Book Awards and the Teen Choice Book Awards. For the list of finalists and winners, check out the Children’s Book Council!

I know that about this time, I start burning out from winter and spring programming and just thinking about the amount of things that need to be done before summer, but I’d like to look at providing some programming around the Children’s Book Choice Awards next year… the kids love voting for things!

The only one I’ve read here is the illustrator winner Sparky, but it was so adorable!

I loved Sparky! But, I mean, how can you not love a sloth?
