It's Monday, What Are You Reading? 5/4/2014

Th51xi5jWxP1L._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_ (1)is week was a great week of reading!  I got though a lot of awesome books and can’t wait to keep reading this week.  I was able to read Dodger and Me by Jordan Sonnenblick.  We’re excited to have Jordan visiting our library this summer and I’ll be offering a book discussion for our older elementary students on Dodger and Me, so all that’s left is to write up my discussion questions.  The Terrible Two by Mac Barnett is a great story for 3rd/4th/4th grade boys labeled “reluctant readers,”  it’s about two boys who both want to be the best prankster in the school until they realize that working together could get them farther than ever!  It’s a very entertaining and silly read!  I also got the chance to read Catch You Later, Traitor by Avi about a 12-year-old boy whose whole world is baseball and detective stories until one day when the FBI comes to the door and accuses his father of being a Communist.  Set in 1951, it’s an eye-opening historical fiction account of the disruption of everyday people’s lives during the Red Scare.
