Happy Pi Day

A lot of people pause when libraries and math are used in the same sentence, but with the popularity of STEM/STEAM programming, more and more children’s librarians are embracing math and science concepts in the library. Today is Pi Day when math nerds celebrate the irrational number 3.1415926 with pie.

The Children’s Book Council will be promoting a new booklist and awards on April 17th entitled “Mathical: Books for Kids from Tots to Teens” which “recognizes popular, math-related fiction and nonfiction for children and teens, from Pre K to 12th grade, with a view toward inspiring children of all ages to cultivate a love of mathematics in the world around them.”

So, keep your eyes open for this awesome list of books to promote mathematics with the kids in your library!
