2014 CYBILS Awards
The 2014 CYBILS – the Children and Young Adult Bloggers’ Literary Awards were announced on February 14th – a perfect day for some book love! And because it was the weekend, a few days got away from me, but I’m finally posting about it today! For a list of all the award winners, check out the CYBILS website!
I was just looking at the shortlists last week, thinking to myself that I need to finish reading a few more on the list, and now that finalists have been announced – I’ll make it my priority to read those first! I love the wide variety the CYBILS covers, and it’s great because you don’t have to worry about YA books squaring off against early elementary chapter books. Each book is nominated into it’s appropriate category and the judges focus solely on that category. I also like that they offer an award for a Book App – a relatively new notion in the “print” world, but one I appreciate nonetheless.
I’m also excited for this list because there are some familiar titles from other award lists, but other winners are titles that were not as heavily discussed or even mentioned for other awards, which means more books to fit more kids and that’s what it’s all about! I was really hoping for a snow day today to catch up on some reading, but since I’m at work, I’ll be headed home tonight to crack open one of these winners right after dinner!
