We focused a lot on opposites this week, unfortunately I only had six kids join me, so the adults in the room were kind enough to help shake the parachute. Our first book was called Maria Had a Little Llama and I wanted to use something that was a little different from the typical nursery rhyme and although I didn’t say anything about diversity, I wanted to show kids that it can be familiar and different at the same time. The kids loved exploring Up Above and Down Below and it was nice there were so few kids because they were able to come up and explore the book with me. Finally, we read Loud and Quiet: An Animal Opposites Book and the kids had a great time guessing the animals and learning about loud vs. quiet animals – and some are definitely a surprise! The best opposites song for parachute is “Fast and Slow” by Laurie Berkner and the kids did a great job listening to the music and shaking the parachute accordingly. Overall, we had a lot of fun (even with such a small group!)
