It's Monday, What Are You Reading? 2/2/2015 – Literacious
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? From Picture Books to YA! Join Jen from Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee and Ricki from Unleashing Readers and share all of the reading you have done over the week from picture books to young adult novels. Follow the links to read about all of the amazing books the #IMWAYR community has read. It’s the best way to discover what to read next. This weekend I was able to finish up The Madman of Piney Woods by Christopher Paul Curtis, just in the nick of time for the Youth Media Awards, but surprising he didn’t win or receive an honor for this book. I thought surely he would have – a strong book with fully developed characters and interesting storyline. I also got the chance to read Everybody Paints!: The Lives and Art of the Wyeth Family by Susan Goldman Rubin – a brief biography of the Wyeth family that is set right here in my own backyard – the Brandywine River Valley. I’m excited to take an afternoon and explore the Brandywine River Museum of Art which holds an extensive collection from the Wyeth family. I also just finished up this morning, Operation Bunny by Sally Gardner – a new fairy detective agency series about a talking cat, a young girl, and a witch up to no good. A great suggestion to kids looking for something a little kooky and maybe even reluctant readers. It’s a quick read! This week, I’m going to continue on my quest to finish up the last few books on the New York Public Library’s Children’s Books 100 Titles for Reading and Sharing 2014. I think I only have 13 books left!
