Appreciation

The other day I received a letter in the mail at work (yeah, an actual piece of physical mail!) from a family that has been coming to my story times since about the time I started in my current position almost seven years.  With three girls now, the family is really busy, but always tries to make time for story time or one of our other programs for little ones.
The family wrote a beautiful note thanking me for all the great programs the library has to offer, but specifically for the “Petite Picasso” program we offered this month which was a lot of fun and enjoyed by all – especially being able to get messy and not worry about the clean-up! (although many parents were very happy to help clean-up our meeting room!)
I know what I do is important for the community, especially for the early literacy crowd, but it’s also really nice to receive a hand-written not of appreciation.  I definitely don’t need it all the time, but it did make my day!  So to pay it forward so to speak – thank you to all the families that frequent our library and make it a community place, thank you to the readers who share their comments on my blog, and thank you to all the librarians and teachers who provide such an inspiration to me on a daily basis both in person and on the web!  You are appreciated more than you know!  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
