National Readathon Day
Tomorrow (Saturday, January 24th) from Noon – 4:00pm in your own respective time zone, take some time to READ! The National Book Foundation is encouraging the nation to take time to pick up a book and read with this event, so make sure you have some reading material handy – a book, magazine, newspaper, tablet, reading device, etc. and take at least a few minutes to stop and read. You can also tweet about your experience at #timetoread.
Conveneintly, I had a doctor’s appointment this morning for a case of laryngitis that just won’t go away and I was advised to be on vocal rest, which for me, is virtually impossible (I mean, I’m a reference librarian), so guess what I’m forced to do this weekend… read! I’m so excited about it! As I’ve mentioned, I’m working my way through the New York Public Library’s Top 100 Children’s Books of 2014, so this gives me some great time to keep going. I think I’m about 2/3 of the way through the list already, but not talking forces me to get a lot of reading done. And we’re supposed to get a couple inches of snow this weekend too, so all signs point to reading. Maybe I can get my boyfriend to read Scott Westerfeld’s Afterworlds, so I can finally get a chance to read it…
