3rd & 4th Grade Book Club
We don’t have any programs this week which allows me to focus on my program planning for the next month or so. One of my programs, a third and fourth grade book discussion group will meet in the middle of February.
I’ll admit, I find it difficult to find books to read with this group of kids. I think part of the issue is that kids in these grades can have a wide range of reading abilities, but due to the way our school district separates schools, our fifth graders are actually considered middle schoolers and are lumped together with 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.
We’ve met on and off for the past two years and have read a variety of books:
Frankie Pickle by Eric Wight
Geronimo Stilton
flora & Ulysses by Kate DiCamillo
Moxy Maxwell Does Not Love Stuart Little by Peggy Gifford
Frannie K. Stein by Jim Benton
If anyone has some suggestions for new books, please let me know! I’m looking at Lulu and the Brontosaurus by Judith Viorst or Dragonbreath by Ursula Vernon for February, but if you’ve got some other ideas, please comment or tweet me!
