It’s International Talk Like a Pirate Day!  And with that being said, here’s my (condensed) list of must-read pirate books!  I could have gone on forever, but I’ll hold back and list only ten.

    You can’t go wrong when it comes to pirates and underwear, kids can’t help but giggle!
  2. Roger, the Jolly Pirate by Brett Helquist
    I love Brett Helquist’s illustrations!
  3. How I Became a Pirate by Melinda Long
    If you want to learn about a pirate’s life, this is the book for you!
  4. Shiver Me Letters: a Pirate ABC by June Sobel
    Pirate vocabulary abounds in this awesome ABC adventure!

    By the same author as How to Train Your Dragon learn how to become a pirate!
  6. The Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Treasure Hunt by Megan McDonald
    Don’t miss as Judy Moody and her brother Stink search for hidden treasure!
  7. You Wouldn’t Want to Explore with Sir Francis Drake!: a Pirate You’d Rather Not Know by David Stewart
    An informational text that is entertaining and fun to read!

  10. Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson
