Preschool Dance Party

I only ended up with six kids for this afternoon’s program (19 were registered), but we had a great time!  The kids were super energetic, ready to dance and didn’t stop for over 30 minutes.  We took one reading break and with only six kids we spent a lot of time talking about the animals we found in Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae.  The kids were so excited to tell me about giraffes they saw at the zoo, the moon, and anything else that came into their heads.  I also pulled out the parachute for this group and we had a great time playing “popcorn”!  Overall, it has been an exhausting (sweaty) day, but it’s a great way to incorporate new programs for young children.  Not all programs have to be storytime, my next endeavor… music and movement with a focus more on musical instruments!!!
