"Important Life Lessons We Learned From Children's Books"
When people ask what I do for a living, many people respond with, “Have you read _________?” And that’s where I say, “If it’s an adult book, probably not. I read mostly children’s books.” And unless the person I’m conversing with is a teacher or works with children, they often give me a strange look. But, I love children’s literature from picture books to young adult literature – I’m a huge fan. And in the rare instance, an adult sheepishly says to me, “Oh, I’ve read (insert children’s book title here)” I am always amazed by how adults say it, as though they are embarrassed, that someone might judge them, etc.
I came across this article today, “Important Life Lessons We Learned From Children’s Books” and although I don’t necessarily love all the books they used as examples, it’s a great point to be made that children’s books are often much deeper than adults realize. And that sometimes, you’ll learn something that you weren’t expecting to. So pick up a children’s book today and maybe you’ll learn something too!
