Ronald McDonald Summer Library Tour
I am excited to announce that my library was one of four selected in the Greater Philadelphia Region Ronald McDonald Summer Library Tour! In an effort to encourage reading, McDonald’s donated $1,000 to our Children’s Department and we had the privilege of hosting Ronald McDonald last night with his laugh-out-loud, entertaining show “It’s Book Time with Ronald!” We also had local personality DJ, Mr. Hollywood provide a read aloud for the kids. I chose Pigs to the Rescue! by John Himmelman which offers a great way to encourage audience participation as the kids get a chance to yell, “PIGS TO THE RESCUE!”
Ronald McDonald had an amazing show filled with juggling, magic tricks, riding around on his unicycle and making sure everyone knew just how much he loves books! And the kids LOVED it! They were laughing and clapping and interacting the whole show! Afterwards, the kids had a chance to shake Ronald’s hand and were given apple slices and a small book, compliments of the local McDonald’s restaurant in our community.
We are so grateful for McDonald’s for choosing our library and providing us with the means to continue offering quality programs for the children in our community! Thanks!
P.S. We also made the local news!
