April is… National Poetry Month
After combining a number of ideas we found online a co-worker and I created this AWESOME display for National Poetry Month. We combined a homemade calendar of mammoth proportion (4 posterboards and crepe paper) and created our very own pockets for poems and added a whole bunch of eye-catching (new) poetry books that are sure to be a crowd pleaser! Now, I hope people will stop and take a look.
Our calendar has combination of poems, book covers, and famous children’s poets spread throughout the month, while I took about 30 different poems form the display books and made colorful copies to add to our even more colorful pockets on the table.
A lot of poems are short enough to be shared in a brief time slot – waiting for water to boil for dinner, setting the table, bath time, bedtime, right before school. And the even better part is – poetry is for everyone! No matter what the age of a child, they can all enjoy poetry! So during April, share some poetry with your friends, family, neighbors, or co-workers!
