Story Time Theme – Tools

43e5055a5bi8vThis week’s story time featured tools!  And the kids really enjoyed it!  I was looking for something that would be a little more boy oriented, but tools are just as important for girls to know too!  And we had a great time learning about hammers, screwdrivers, chisels, and more.  Old MacDonald Had a Workshop was a great story to share because the kids are already familiar with the song and we just changed the words to include tool vocabulary.  I Love Tools! is a very brief story that teaches kids about tools.  And finally, Tap Tap Bang Bang is a great story with awesome environmental sounds and worked really well for this story time!

Parent Info: Using books that encourage animal and environmental sound effects teaches children about the smaller sounds in words, also known as phonological awareness.  These sounds help children to learn how to sound out larger words when they begin reading.
