The Copernicus Legacy: The Forbidden Stone

Untitled-3

This was definitley one of those books that I wanted to read as soon as I saw the cover!  I’ve read a number of quotes comparing it to a mixture of Rick Riordan and Dan Brown, which I could definitely see, but it is also reminiscent of The 39 Clues series published by Scholastic a few years ago.  Overall, the story is a suspenseful mystery for middle grade readers looking for action, puzzles, and intrigue, and of course a series – this in one of (I’m assuming) 12 books in the series.

When Wade’s father receives a coded email from his former professor and finds out that he has mysteriously died, the family including stepbrother Darrell, cousin Lily and her friend Becca are sent on a worldwide adventure to solve the puzzles left behind and protect the world from something that even they, have trouble understanding.  Like I said, even at 432 pages, this is a quick read that I didn’t wan to put down.  My only problem right now – it was just published and now I’ll have to wait impatiently for the next one in the series.

The series has its own website that has some great extras, a character guide and information about the next book (which comes out in October!).  Or you can find out more about the author, Tony Abbott on his website!
