Exciting News…

It has been a couple of crazy weeks in October with programming, story times, new employees and more, but I received some very exciting news a few weeks ago and realized I hadn’t had a chance to share with you.  I’ve been accepted to participate in the American Library Association’s (ALA) Emerging Leaders program!  If you’re unfamiliar with the program (which most people are) here is what ALA has to say about it, “The American Library Association (ALA) Emerging Leaders (EL) program is a leadership development program which enables newer library workers from across the country to participate in problem-solving work groups, network with peers, gain an inside look into ALA structure, and have an opportunity to serve the profession in a leadership capacity.”

I’m excited to meet some librarians from around the country and be able to get a closer look at ALA and be able to serve ALA, PaLA, and my library better.  I’m really excited because the midwinter conference will be held in my backyard – Philadelphia (making it extremely easy and inexpensive for me!) and in June, I’ll be headed to Las Vegas to present a poster session with the other librarians in the program.  I am so honored to be selected for this program (only 50 librarians across the country participate each year!) and I am so thankful to work in a library setting where my supervisors believe in furthering my education and are willing to work around a hectic summer reading schedule that allows me to go the annual conference.

I’m so excited for this new opportunity and can’t wait to begin!
