Good-Bye Summer Reading, Hello Fall Programming
Summer reading is officially over! YAY!!!! And we are now in the midst of cleaning, organizing, and trying to wrap our heads around everything that’s coming up in the next few months. Overall, our summer was very busy, programming went really well and even though we had fewer registrants than last year, I think statistics will show that more books were checked out than last year.
I’m jumping right into the Fall with a book cart drill team made up of 8 middle schoolers who will be marching in our Tricentennial Parade this Saturday… the logistics have been trying (to say the least), but the kids are learning the routine and moves really well and are very excited about being in the parade.
Next week, will be our library’s 50th anniversary and we will be celebrating with a proclamation at our Board of Supervisor’s meeting followed by the dedication of our new Family Place play area after the generous donations made in memory of a long-time library patron and board member. This is going to be such a nice way to remember this lovely woman, but right now it means hectic cleaning and organizing to get everything to look just right before the dedication next week.
A preview of upcoming fall programming:
- Parachute Science
- Story Times
- Enchanted Library practices
- Scaredy Squirrel program
- Write & Illustrate Your Own Book Contest
- Diwali Celebration
This is just a few of the things coming up in the next two months, am I ready? Not yet, but I’ll have to be when the time comes. I’ve been borrowing a lot of great programming ideas from other blogs I follow, which has been a life saver for me, especially time wise!
