Eleanor & Park – Literacious
This book cover has bee intriguing to me for the past couple of months and I finally got a chance to read the book last week. A story of love found in the most unlikely of places is one that I rarely can put down. This is a universal story about teens with themes that any adult can relate to. Eleanor is the new girl at school and when she climbs up the bus stairs the first day she ends up sitting next to Park, a boy from the neighborhood, just trying to fit in and not stand out. They ignore each other every morning and afternoon, until one day Park realizes Eleanor is reading his comic books over his shoulder and for reasons unbeknownst to him, he slide the comic book in between them and waits to turn the page for a little longer to allow Eleanor to finish reading. This is the beginning of Eleanor and Park’s relationship and soon its the favorite parts of each of their days. Eleanor’s family life is difficult and dangerous and Park’s parents don’t understand Eleanor’s style of dress or her quiet almost timid demeanor. This is definitely one for teens looking for something after Sarah Dessen’s books about love or John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars and I’m excited to read something else by the author.
