Story Time Theme: Stars – Literacious
STORY TIME – Stars ASL Sign: Stars (using “g” fingers point to the sky and shift hands back and forth) Opening Traditional: Put Your Hands Up In the Air & Open Shut Them Parachute: Parachute Bop (Shakin’ the Chute) Book 1: Stars by, Mary Lyn Ray *** I loved this story! It was about remembering that you are as special as a star! In the story, the children are reminded to carry a star in their pocket to always remember how special they are, after we read this story I gave each child a small yellow star that I cut out of cardstock to keep in their own pockets! They loved getting something special at story time! Transition Traditional: 5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed Parachute: Popcorn (Battu ~ Putumayo Kids Presents: African Playground) Book 2: Astronaut PiggyWiggy by, Christyan and Diane Fox *** This is such a quick little story about PiggyWiggy’s imagination! It’s a quick read which makes it perfect for story time for the little ones! Transition (changes weekly) Traditional: Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star (with scarves) Parachute: Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star Book 3: Bear in a Square by, Stella Blackstone *** This story is actually about shapes and counting, but it’s perfect because the last shape to count are 10 stars. The kids enjoyed finding the shapes and counting together. Closing Traditional: Shake Your Sillies Out Puppet Show Parachute: Freeze!! (Shakin’ the Chute)
