How gross is too gross?!?!?
As I was shifting our picture book collection the other day, I came across a book entitled, Poopendous! written by Artie Bennett and illustrated by Mike Moran. As the book goes, “Poop is yuck, poop is foul. Step in poop and you will howl. To red ths book, you must be strong. Just hold your nose adn come along!” This is a laugh out loud adventure and heralded as, ” The inside scoop on every type and use of poop!”
So as I was perusing this title, I was also thinking about the 100+ things that need to happen before our summer reading program officially begins and I had a very interesting (and yes, gross!) idea! What if we did a book display on toilets, sewers, and of course, poop! The Summer Reading theme is “Dig Into Reading” and I would have to say that plumbing should be highlighted.
Now I’m not sure if my supervisor would think this display idea is a good one, but there are some great books that would make it a lot of fun, such as:
- Captain Underpants by, Dav Pilkey
- Poopendous! by, ARtie Bennett
- Poop Happened!: A History of the World from the Bottom Up by, Sarah Albee
- Jurassic Poop: What Dinosarus (and Others) Left Behind by, Jacob Berkowitz
- Flush!: The Scoop on Poop Throughout the Ages by, Charise Mericle Harper
- 50 Underwear Questions: A Bare-All History by, Tanya Lloyd Kyi
- and maybe even highlight some toilet training books as well!
Regardless, I think it would be soooo funny! And I think (boys especially) would love to see this type of display!
