I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More!
I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More written by Karen Beaumont and illustrated David Catrow is such a fun story to share with little kids and even early elementary age children because the whole story can be sung or read and has great rhymes throughout it.
The story is about a little kid who goes a little overboard with the paints and ends up painting the whole room. After a bath and the mother hiding the paints in a closet, the little kid climbs to the top shel fan dbegins painting their whole body! Each body part has a rhyme in the song making it a great game to guess what is coming next. David Catrow is such a great illustrator using almost pencil sketches and then bright washes of color to show the paint.
As I said, this makes a great read aloud and can be used to explain body parts as well! Definitely a story you have to check out if your kids (or you) enjoy fingerpainting, painting in the tub, or being creative in any form!
