Exclamation Mark

exclammarkcoverLet me start with one simple fact – I ADORE Amy Krouse Rosenthal’s picture books.  Her ideas are absolutely spot-on for young children and are humorous enough to get a chuckle out the adults reading them as well.  Tom Lichtenheld’s illustrations are comical as well – he has an amazing way of giving inanimate objects a true personality!  Definitely check out other books by both the author and illustrator!

When Exclamation Mark came across my desk, it caught my eye immediately with its bright yellow cover and (excited) exclamation mark.  Throughout the story the exclamation mark continues to try to find his perfect place – not at the front of a sentence, not in the middle.  When a new friend a question mark appears, exclamation mark finally learns where he fits best.

This book could work in a number of capacities from teaching young children about the importance of reading and writing the correct punctuation to teaching kids how to accept themselves for who they are.  This delightfully simple picture book will be one you are sure to enjoy!  Check out the author’s website and the illustrator’s too!
