Do Crocs Kiss?
This is an absolutely adorable story with lift-the-flaps and great rhymes! Salina Yoon may be one of my new favorite children’s authors. She also wrote Penguin and Pinecone which I fell in love with this winter and have use for multiple story times.
Each page spread asks two questions about the animal and ends with “All I know is [insert animal here] goes…” and then you lift the mouth of the animal on the opposing page to see it roar, chirp, snap, etc.! The lift-the-flaps seem pretty sturdy because they are quite large, although made only of a laminate cardstock weight paper. I’m hoping this book will last at least a little while in circulation so that many families can enjoy it.
I think I’ll plan on a zoo story time in the spring using this book because it has bright colors, large font, and would be simple enough for the little ones to follow along with and interact with during story time. Definitely check this book out for young ones – especially toddlers and preschoolers. Also,c heck out Do Cows Meow? a similar style of story with a focus on farm animals rather than the jungle/zoo animals. For more information about the author, check out her website!
