Extra Yarn
Extra Yarn is such a fun story that reminds me of the clay-mation story Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town with a dark, somber town where colors have been all but washed away. Anabelle’s knitting skills and magic yarn box change her drab town from dark and dreary to colorful and fun! Anabelle begins by knitting a sweater for herself, only to find more yarn in her yarn box and begins knitting sweaters for everyone and everything in her hometown. When an archduke plots and successfully steals Anabelle’s yarn box, he finds that the magic doesn’t work for him as it does for Anabelle.
This is such a fun story with humorous illustrations and sparse text that lends itself to a wonderful read aloud story for young children. I love the idea of being able to change the world around you by simple acts and this story is a great way to illustrate that idea to young children.
