Seymour Simon’s Extreme Earth Records
I had the privilege of listening to Seymour Simon speak at a conference last year and I was blown away by the number of books he has written and his amazing website filled to the brim with information about almost every topic you could imagine – especially if it has to do with science and nature. Simon has written over 250 books for children, many of which are non-fiction titles that offer accessible information and photographs for younger children.
One of his newer books, Seymour Simon’s Extreme Earth Records would be a great read for children interested in the Guinness Book of Records or other similar titles. With easy to read, exciting information, and amazing pictures – this Simon book does not disappoint! I’m trying to figure out how I could do a program featuring the book for elementary school-age kids – I think they’d love it!
Just over 50 pages, this book would be great for a reluctant reader interested in non-fiction. It has some really interesting information such as the coldest (and hottest) places on Earth, the most remote, the driest, the highest waterfall, and the largest volcanic eruption, among others! An extremely interesting read – I even learned something!
Definitely check out Seymour Simon’s website if you have a few minutes (or an hour!). It’s chock full of really cool information. You can also follow Simon on Twitter – @SeymourSimon.
