The Composer is Dead
I would have to say that Lemony Snicket is one of the most interesting authors that is currently writing for children. From A Series of Unfortunate Events to The Lump of Coal his work is definitely different and kids go crazy for it! With that being said, I picked up The Composer is Dead the other day and found it absolutely fascinating. An inspector has been called to the scene of the crime, for a composer has been killed and the murderer is on the loose. With Lemony Snicket’s use of rich vocabulary and adult humor, you may need to explain a few things to smaller children.
The story itself is very fun to read, but just wait until you listen to the book on CD; the story truly shines. Comparable to Peter and the Wolf this story – fun for adults, almost more than kids, is a great way to introduce the instruments in an orchestra. Great for music teachers, elementary teachers, and even just listening in the car or at home, this is one to experience!
