Best Books List

I have to say the end of the year brings with it a lot of fun – especially in the form of Top 10 and Best Books Lists.  The New York Public Library has pulled together the top 100 books for reading and sharing this year.  What’s great about this list is that it’s broken down into seven different categories – Picture Books, Folk and Fairy Tales, Poetry and Song, Stories for Younger Readers, Stories for Older Readers, Graphic Books, and Nonfiction.

I was excited to see that I have already read many of the books on the list, there are some still on my to-read list, and still more that I think I’ll need to check out (library pun intended)!  We are also closing in on ALA Book and Media Awards which will be announced in mid-January.  There’s a lot of buzz in the blogosphere about top contenders, but I think this year will be very interesting.  Take a look at the NYPL’s 100 TItles for Reading and Sharing – maybe you’ll find the perfect present for someone this holiday season!  And if you don’t see your favorite on the list – let me know what it is, so I can add it to my own reading list!
