The Great Unexpected

I had big thoughts to match the big wind. I wondered if we find the people we need when we need them. I wondered if we attract our future by some sort of invisible force, or if we are drawn to it by a similar force. I felt I was turning a corner and that change was afoot.”  ~The Great Unexpected

Sharon Creech is another favorite author of mine and I was so excited to see that she had written another book.  The Great Unexpected is about two young orphan girls living in Blackbird Tree when a boy drops out of a tree, a man from Ireland comes to visit, and questions arise.  Like many of Sharon Creech’s novels, this story has plots that are interwoven together with really strong characters that are uniquely “Creech.”

Sharon Creech has a remarkable way of weaving a story together and The Great Unexpected does not disappoint.  This story stretches from America to Ireland with a unexpected turns and intrigue that middle grade students will enjoy.
